So just how did this come about?<br \/>\nIn 2016 I spoke at a Breakfast &#8220;do&#8221; in Bienne, a bilingual town near where I live. I spoke in French, and was translated into German by a nice lady of the name, Beatrice. There were more German speaking people there than French speaking, so there was a lot of disappointment when it was realized that my book was written only in French and English.<br \/>\nAutumn 2017, and Beatrice contacts me to ask me if I would still be interested in having my book in German. Well, <em>Yes,<\/em> I said. we agreed on terms and off she went translating. At the same time, an Austrian colleague I had known in Africa had said that if I found a translator, she would be willing to check the work. Enter Christiane.<br \/>\nAnd now, mid February 2018, it is done! All I have to do is to send the manuscript to several publishing houses, probably in Germany. But that will have to wait till I get back from Africa.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"pt-cv-meta-fields\"><span class=\"entry-date\"> <time datetime=\"2018-02-09T17:57:02+00:00\">February 9, 2018<\/time><\/span><span> \/ <\/span><span class=\"author\"> <a href=\"https:\/\/janeswritings.jjspace.ch\/author\/admin\/\" rel=\"author\">Jane Newman<\/a><\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<p><strong>Sometimes I write poems<\/strong><br \/>\nI call them <em>poems on the hoof,<\/em> because very often they are nudged into existence by an event or an experience. It&#8217;s actually only been two years or so since I got back into writing poetry, stimulated by the reading of an amazing book called, <em>The splash of words.<\/em> A brilliant book.<br \/>\nI often write them in a card for someone&#8217;s birthday, or a bereavement card. I wrote one in a train, after the nerve-wracking experience of getting out of the regional train at the wrong station, and nearly missing the train at the main station.
